Informed Consent: The Future of Publishing
This project is a research study at Arizona State University, led by principal investigator Ed Finn, Director of the Center for Science and the Imagination at Arizona State University.
We invite you to take part in a research study because we want to hear your thoughts about the future of books and publishing. We are conducting this research to determine how technological and cultural change will transform the way that people read, write, and disseminate in the future. Digital technology and cultural changes have had an enormous impact on the publishing industry, and this study aims to find out, from a variety of perspectives, what the future of books and publishing will look like.
Video or text responses to any of the questions or prompts on this website will be included in this study. They will be posted on this website, http://sprintbeyondthebook.com, and may be archived indefinitely at this website and at the Arizona State University Center for Science and the Imagination website, http://csi.asu.edu. The video and text you submit will also be stored indefinitely on hard drives and computers at the Arizona State University Center for Science and the Imagination for use in future research projects about the future of books and publishing, and will be accessible by staff, faculty and student researchers affiliated with the Center for Science and the Imagination. Your contributions may also be used in a forthcoming e-book to be published by Intel Labs and the ASU Center for Science and the Imagination. The e-book will be distributed free of charge.
You will only be answering questions about the future of books and publishing—we will not be asking questions that should lead to any sensitive or personal information being divulged. You will have the opportunity to contribute a brief bio through this website, but note that contributing a bio is entirely optional.
You can leave the study at any time—it will not be held against you. If you would like your contributions collected through this website removed from the study, from the website, and/or from the e-book, you can submit a request to the ASU Center for Science and the Imagination at imagination@asu.edu.
This research is being funded by Intel Labs. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate.
